I'm sure everyone has ever felt like they are in a slump; uninspired, unmotivated and just felt like plain shit. I've found myself in that position for many times and two weeks ago it just got back to me. So a few days later i forced myself to restart. Start the day with a fresh shower, a 10 minute morning stretch and an attempt to meditate. I made a rough list of the things I wanted to do the day before, and instead of being ambitious to be overly productive I start from small things, like reading at least a chapter a day or reviewing one lesson of my korean course. The feeling of accomplishing something (that started small) felt very rewarding and encouraged me to accomplish more things and in the end gradually helped me to get back on my feet again. Here I'm sharing two things that gave me the extra push in hopes it might help you too.
Book: Ego is The Enemy by Ryan Holiday
I haven't finish this book yet but the fact that I feel like I have to mention it here shows how good of a slap this book is. It really made me think of how many opportunities were missed just because I could not get out of my own head. It made me think of myself less, without thinking less of myself. I may update my final thoughts of this book once I finish it later but so far it made me think about how humility, diligence and having self awareness beats talent, skill and confidence. Shout out to my dear friend, Lakeisha for recommending me this book!
Fong Min Liao's Newsletter
Fong is an artist whom I discovered through Instagram. I followed her initially because how aesthetically pleasing her feed is (also she seems so lovely!) and subscribed to her newsletter impulsively. Her newsletter is short and sweet, common sense wisdom that it wouldn't hurt to be reminded of once in a while. Reading them always left me feeling nourished and inspired afterwards. Sent every Monday, you can check out and subscribe to her newsletter here.
Sending all my love to everyone who struggles to keep their self together this period.
Happy weekend and see you next Sunday!
